MoU to be signed for joint research between ICTD and Harvard University
The State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak passed a good news in the middle of his ten-day visit to New York. He said that this time Bangladesh is going to undertake joint research activities with Harvard University of the United States which is known as the most famous and oldest residential research center. The state minister has hinted that a memorandum of understanding will be signed with the university authorities soon.
On the sixth day of his ten-day visit to the United States (May 10), Palak met with stakeholders at the University of Boston, Massachusetts. At the end of the meeting, he said that the joint project between Harvard and the ICT department had fruitful discussions. Work on the project will begin soon.
Palak also said that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) would be signed between the two organizations for joint research.
The meeting took place at Wadsworth House, Harvard's second-oldest building and a historic site for the university. The state minister was welcomed at the university's office of provost of international affairs, Shaira Kachubayeva, by Sachit Balsari, assistant professor of emergency medicine at Harvard, and Lakshmi Mittal, and Hitesh Hati, executive director of the Family Institute. Then they met in a meeting.
Regarding the meeting, Zunaid Ahmed Palak said, “I went to Harvard a few months ago and met Professor Tarun Khanna. And today we talked about how the ICT department and Harvard can work together. Hopefully, in a few days we will be able to start working together.
The meeting was attended by a2i Policy Advisor Anir Chowdhury and Director General of Digital Security Agency Md. Khairul Amin.
Earlier, signing the Harvard inspection book, the ICT Minister wrote 'Innovation not Imitation'. He also presented a biography of Bangabandhu.
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak started his visit to the United States on May 4 to make the 'Golden Jubilee Bangladesh Concert' organized at Madison Square Garden in New York a success. In the meantime, he is holding various activities including screening of animated movie 'Mujib Amar Pita' by Bangladeshi animators based on the writings of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, launching cyber security award in the name of Bangabandhu with UN development program and taking initiative to conduct business in the country. He is also scheduled to meet with the chief executive and managing director of Oracle, a multinational computer technology and software maker based in Silicon Valley, on May 11.
